Do not be fooled by companies that advertise "20 years of experience". Most are cumulative time frames of the owner at various companies and/or locations. We have actually been an operating business; Palm Bay Aluminum, since 1977.
Do not be a statistic! Do not use an unlicensed contractor for your work. It can only cause you as the consumer more heart ache in the long run. Ask to see compies of the licenses and check to make sure they have liability insurance and worker's compensation coverage.
Make sure you get a proposal and/or contract with a detailed description of the work. Unfortunately, the saying "you get what you pay for!' is relevant in this industry. Just because a company offers you a better price, does not mean you are going to get a better or even, as is in most cases, a satisfactory job.
If you are required to give a deposit, make sure to get the details regarding refunds if you were to decide to cancel the project before it starts.
